Spring Theater Production

SPRING THEATER PRODUCTION “DATING.COM
Thursday, March 29th and Friday, March 30th at 7:00pm Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students.

Tickets are available at the door. Seating is limited.
Get ready for a roller coaster ride of laughter!  Desert Academy Performing Arts presents “dating.com,” our first long-form improv with music.  Randy Bennett uses his thirty plus years of improv experience to direct the show.

The performance begins by taking several suggestions from the audience.  The actors use these suggestions to create characters on the spot. Then, we meet the actors on the big screen as they videotape their dating monologues from the dating.com studio offstage (in the library!). Then the audience does the matchmaking! We follow the cast, all of whom attend college somewhere in the Santa Fe area, through a series of scenes including their first date, their first big fight, and the proposal, all the way to their fifth anniversary (if they make it that far).  That’s up to the audience, too.  Along the way, the cast will be improvising songs…love songs, bee bop girls’ songs and boy band songs…all based on audience suggestions. Juliana Peterson serves as musical director.

The cast for the show is comprised of students in Mr. Bennett’s “Acting for the Stage” class. They are Jasper Grossman, Onima Heilbron, Ariana Montez, Sarah Nuamah, Gabby Medina, Cole Tolbert, Katie Waldron, Marley Medina, Luna Redondo-Campiglio, Sophie Stroud, Vale Traub (a foreign exchange student from Germany), and Forrest Sanchez. Alea Campbell serves as Mr. Bennett’s assistant and will stage manage.

BE SURE TO CHECK OUT THE STORY IN THE NEW MEXICAN PUBLISHED MARCH 29!
