Advisory Program
Desert’s advisory program is designed to provide students with a consistent and supportive home base as an integral part of their school experience. Advisory groups meet twice a week to discuss current issues in members’ lives, to focus on organization and time management and to track academic progress, to emphasize global understanding through our Friends Around the World project, to practice the critical thinking skills and traits that are at the core of our school’s mission, and to have fun through our ongoing advisory competition. Parents are encouraged to contact their child’s advisor for support in making their experience at Desert the best it can be. Advisors write a detailed letter at the end of the first semester that summarizes each student’s experience at Desert.
