NHS/NJHS
National Honor Society and National Junior Honor Society are nation-wide organizations established in 1921 to recognize those students who demonstrate excellence in the core areas of Scholarship, Leadership, Service, Character and Citizenship. The NJHS involves students in grades seven through nine whereas the NHS involves students grades nine through twelve.
Desert Academy’s NHS and NJHS run the peer tutoring program through assistance to students and teachers during study hall special session on Monday and Wednesday and in the afterschool sessions designated by departments.
Self-nomination occurs every year beginning in December with applications due to the club advisor (Ms. Comstock) at the end of January (date to be set).
